Outfielder

Paul F. McLaughlin

Class of 1955

Paul may be the best all around athlete of the decade. Quiet and mild-mannered around school, he became a relentless competitor once the game began.

A four year letterman in football, and Captain of the 1954 team, he was named the Most Valuable Lineman and was voted the Most Outstanding Player in the Lowell Sun all star game. While not fast, he was a great blocker and tackler, had deceptive moves, and caught any ball thrown near him by his quarterback, Dave Bouchard. His most memorable game was an 18-7 CHS upset win over Melrose in Melrose.

While not tall by basketball standards, he was a fierce rebounder, the most effective ever to wear sneakers in Hunt Gym. He was also a prolific scorer, graduating with three school records: 47 points in one game against Marlboro, 21 consecutive foul shots in one game, and 509 total points in his Senior year. Paul was also a sure handed outfielder and three year starter on the baseball team.

Paul lives in Concord with his wife Marty. He is an avid canoe racer, recently winning the Townsend Masters and the Father-Son Icebreaker races. He has two grown sons, Paul and Brian.
